Gypsum fibreboard (GVL)

A gypsum sheet reinforced with cellulose fibre and no paper facing: denser and stronger than drywall.

GVL is a gypsum sheet reinforced with cellulose fibre throughout, with no paper facing. It is denser than drywall, holds screws better and takes impact well, but is heavier, pricier and harder to cut. It suits dry floor systems and high-traffic walls; ordinary partitions and ceilings usually use drywall.
